Art Of The Title Format for Evil Dead 2013 (Conventions of Institutional Credits)

This is the opening sequence for the movie Evil Dead which is based on horror and survival. It was later shown on channels such as film4 a couple of years after it had released. In this opening sequence you see a list of the main characters which are involved within the movie along with the design and production team which assisted the directors to make the movie as entertaining as possible to the target audience. They show the characters first before the production and techinical people because they want the audience to know the more important people of the film before the people that assissted the editing and the production of the film. The Evil dead is a horror type of film that was shown on film4 as-well as other companies such as UK film council, Revolution films and baby cow productions at one point

Above, is a screenshot showing the first nine frames from this opening sequence for the movie ''Evil Dead'' which was produced in 2013. Also, they show some of the special effects in which 'Rupert Gillies' had used to create fear and suspense to it's target audience. Some of these effects include blood dripping/pouring, screaming and non-diegetic sound of background music to fear it's audience.

At the beginning of this opening sequence of ''Evil Dead'' they show the director's name at the beginning ''Fede Alvarez'' this is done so that the audience can immediately get engaged with the film as a popular director who had made successful movies in the past is the main director of this film which would give the audience the image that this film is going to be good.

However, as the opening sequence is coming to the end they begin to show the characters this is done so that they can build a hype  and excitement towards the audience as well as the film which would get the audience more engaged and pumped with what the film is about. As it features stars such as Jessica Lucas and Elizabeth Blackmore.

The production designer for ''Evil Dead'' is a man named ''Rupert Gillies''. A production designer is someone that focuses on how the movie is produced and what to include to make the movie more scary for the audience and he does this in the opening sequence by showing flames and blood dripping behind the characters and producers name to produce that dark effect to the audience.

The opening sequence in which I decided to do my timeline on is a movie called ‘Evil Dead’. I found this opening sequence from ‘The art of the title’ website where it shows a variety of other opening sequences with a lot of other themes such as comedy and gangs but I decided to choose horror and the ‘evil dead’ opening sequence.  At the beginning of the opening sequence it shows the director’s name ‘Fede Alvarez’ which is at 00:12. I believe the production team had done this so that the audience can get a sense of hype and excitement as a popular person is the main director of the film which is ‘Fede Alvarez’. However, coming to the end of the opening sequence it begins to show the characters and who they are played by which is unusual from a big box office such as ‘Evil Dead’. Some of these actors include; Jessica Lucas and Elizabeth Blackmore who are big stars and have appeared in big movies. I believe the production team decide to leave the actors at the end of the opening sequence because they want to create excitement and to engage the audience even more as popular actors are in this film which would increase the popularity and audience of this film. The special effects are used throughout the entire duration of this opening sequence which is things such as blood dripping, doors creaking and screaming. This is done by ‘Rupert Gillies’ at 01:00 mainly so that he can create a sense of fear and suspense before the film has begun which makes the audience more engaged with what’s happening or what is going to happen in the film. Below is my timeline in which I did to show at what times during the opening sequence that certain casts and members appear of the film.
