E-Media, Broadcast and Print Advertisement Analysis

Broadcast - Kidulthood Opening Scene 


This text immediately appeals to me due to the fast paced scenes and hip hop music which is a diegetic sound because it goes along with the scene they're showing which engages the audiences due to fast switching of scenes and what's going on. The hip hop music that is used throughout the opening scene would appeal to teenagers mainly due to it stereotyping the type of music that modern day teenagers would listen to. In addition, this can also relate to the target audience for the plot of the film as it is aimed at teenagers between the ages of 16 and 21 as it shows older students hanging around at the playground. This is apart of the uses and gratifications theory as it creates escapism/entertainment such as enjoyment which is being created with the fast paced scenes to keep their target audience engaged with what is happening throughout their opening sequence.

Broadcast - Breaking Bad (First Season) Trailer

This text immediately appeals to me due to the pan upwards camera movemnt on the main character of the series as he is working. The reason it engages me immediately because through the immediate use of a camera shot of a close up it can  show that they are trying to create a suspense towards their target audience as either something good or bad may happen. Secondly, another camera shot in which is used from this trailer which appeals to me is the use of a medium shot of the main character name at the beginning. This could immediately inform their target audience who the main character for this series is which is a part of the uses amd gratifications theory which informs us about the main character due to its name and face being shown before the other characters are revealed. One of the uses and gratifications theory in which this trailer creates is entertainment towards its target audience due to the comedy and fast paced scenes which is used throughout the breaking bad trailer.





Print Advertisment - Match Of The Day Magazine 

This text immediately appeals to me because from the uses and gratifications theory I can say that it gives me a lot of information such as getting aspiration from footballers for those people that want to become footballers and what they're currently doing to try and become one. They include interviews of footballers for the target audience of boys between the ages of 11 and 16 because they want to inform kids that read the book what happens in a footballers life. This can  inform them about the things they went to and the things they did to become successful e.g attending football camps and listening to coaches which would appeal to the target audience that the magazine is aimed at. Which leads on to the other uses and gratifications that is escapism/entertainment. Escapsim is being created whilst reading this magazine as it kills boredom and creates enjoyment to readers as it tells about all the teams in the premier league and the results. One of the pleasures in which boys between the ages of 11 and 16 could get is self-esteem through knowledge about their favourite footballers such as Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.










Print Advertisment - Four Four Two Magazine                                                           
This text of the four four two magazine immediately appeals due to it showing a large image of Jose Mourinho which can inform readers who the star marketing for their magazine is. This text appeals me due to the colour as well as the image on the cover because it makes the magazine cover immediately eye catching for anyone that is reading it and can draw more people to read their magazine due to the use of bright colours such as red, white and blue.



E-Media -Fifa 15
This text of the video game FIFA 15 trailer immediately appeals to me due to the variety of camera shots used (e.g. Long Shot, Close Up, Wide Shot, Pan movements and others). Due to its variety of camera shots it engages me because it doesn't just show one thing with one camera shot/angle which would be dull and boring whereas this trailer uses a lot of camera shot which would engage a large audience. Furthermore, this trailer also uses Non-Diegetic Sound (e.g. A narrators voice describing the atmosphere and background music playing  which can engage their target audience more effectively. This does relate to the uses and gratifications theory because it gives me a lot of information about what is in the game and can give escapism/entertainement as by watching this trailer it can kill boredom. Furthermore, one of the other uses and gratifications in which FIFA could bring is social interaction as you can interact people across the world due to its multiplayer features.
E-Media - Destiny
This text of the video game Destiny immediately appeals me because from the uses and gratifications theory it provides a lot information such as the amount of rewards this game had won which can engage a big audience due to the rewards they ahd won (e.g. Over 180 awards). Furthermore, it also uses a variety of camera shots such as a Long Shot and a Mid Shot of characters that are featured in the game whilst they are battling. Another uses and gratifications is that it does kill boredom because they are a lot of people that enjoy games like this and would get them excited if they saw the trailer which can lead on to more and more people viewing this game.
