Editing Techniques

For this task i have to explain what some of the main editing techniques that are used in films and give examples to show what each editing technique looks like and it's effect.

Dissolve - Where the image dissolves away into something else. This is a clip from a hollywood film called Citizen Kane where they use a dissolve transition.

Wipe - A transition that cleans away a scene to move into another. Below is a clip off you tube where it shows what a wipe transition does

Fade In - A slow transition in which the images fades into the screen
Fade out - A slow transition in which the scene slowly fades away from the screen.
Below is a demonstration of how both fade in and fade out is used in a certain scene and how it effects the audience.

Super imposition - To edit something or someone into the scene
Above is a clip of someone's reflection and they used super imposition to put themselves in the scene. When i first saw what a super imposition was i thought that the person init was the actual character.
